Potter What does God think about Harry Potter? |

Who is Harry Potter? Harry Potter is the lead character in a series of children's novels written by Joanne K. Rowling. These novels are, in late 2001, setting unbelievable sales records and generating bizarre worldwide fascination. Their influence and popularity can hardly be overstated. Warner Brothers has released the first in a series of movies based on the novels, which has just broken the box office record for an opening weekend. Harry Potter is a wizard, and the novels are captivating stories of Harry's experiences in a world of sorcery and witchcraft. The son of two witches, Harry was orphaned at one by a wizard who murdered his parents and left the thunderbolt in his forehead. Left with his muggle (non-wizard) uncle's family, Harry lived an unhappy and boring life until accepted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at the age of eleven. This school has a seven-year program to teach magic, which accounts for the plan to write seven novels, one for each of Harry's years at school. Four have been written, and the other three are scheduled for completion by 2003. Harry is a powerful wizard who has conquered death and crippled a demonic enemy. The lengthy novels are filled with exciting and attractive accounts of magical power and life in a world of sorcery and witchcraft. No one who has even just cracked the books can deny the following two, simple facts: 1. The Harry Potter books
are incredibly successful and popular, creating bizarre fascination.
1. Witchcraft and sorcery are an abomination; witches should be put to death by the government; they cannot inherit the kingdom of God; and they are all going to hell. "Thou shalt not suffer
a witch to live." "A man also or woman
that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard,
shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their
blood shall be upon them." "And he caused his children
to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed
times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft,
and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil
in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. "Now the works of the
flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication . . . idolatry,
witchcraft . . . murders,
drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before,
as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall
not inherit the kingdom of God." For without are dogs, and
sorcerers, and whoremongers,
and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."
"Wherefore come out
from among them, and be ye separate, saith
the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive
you." "Regard
not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after
wizards, to be defiled by
them: I am the LORD your God." "And he spake unto the
congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked
men, and touch nothing of theirs,
lest ye be consumed in all their sins."
"Ye adulterers and adulteresses,
know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever
therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." "Love
not the world, neither the things that are in the world.
If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all
that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And
the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will
of God abideth for ever." "And he said unto them,
Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your
hearts: for that which is highly esteemed
among men is abomination in the sight of God." "Woe
unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so
did their fathers to the false prophets." "Thou
shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt
thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment."
"And, ye fathers, provoke
not your children to wrath: but bring them
up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." "Be not deceived: evil
communications corrupt good manners." "And these words, which
I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou
shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt
talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by
the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
"And many that believed
came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many
of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and
burned them before all men: and they counted the price
of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew
the word of God and prevailed." "Abstain from all appearance
of evil.
These novels are being used by Satan to further corrupt the world away from the knowledge of God, and they are one of many reasons why the Lord is lifting His protection from America. It is wicked hypocrisy to sing "God Bless America" and allow books and a movie promoting witchcraft to be sold. Godly fathers will totally reject anything to do with Harry Potter, and they will instead teach their children the fear of the Lord by instructing them confidently in His Word.
