Is God a Liar?
Every word of God is pure. (Proverbs 30:5)
Was the famine offered to David seven years or was it three years?

2 Samuel 24:13 1 Chronicles 21:12
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.  Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

Like blood in the water to sharks, such a variance draws all unbelievers to the attack.

ATHEISTS deny any God, so contradictions in the Christian Bible are obvious mistakes of ignorant and superstitious writers and confirm their hatred of God and religion.

AGNOSTICS deny anything they can’t hold and taste, so such errors in a book written by men are no surprise at all. They reason, if I can’t hold God, then I’ll just reject Him.

TEXTUAL CRITICS deny God’s ability to preserve His words without their wise help, so they lust after variances like this to confirm their false science (I Tim 6:20-21).

THE FEARFUL AND UNBELIEVING deny God’s Providence and Wisdom in such matters and humbly bow to godless critics in preparing for eternal judgment (Rev 21:8).

GOD’S SAINTS simply read the Bible and observe that three more years of famine for David’s sin in addition to the years for Saul’s sin would equal a total of seven years of famine. Is this kind of math too difficult for contemporary christians raised on MTV?

Saul’s abuse of the Gibeonites had already brought three years of famine (II Sam 21:1). Though the Lord had been entreated for the land after David’s corrective measures (21:14), either a sabbatical year resulted in no planting or the effects of the famine lingered due to the lack of seed. Since numbering Israel took ten months (24:8), we have four years of severe or partial famine before Gad offered David three more years.

God said to David, "Do you want three more years of famine bringing the total to seven? Or three months fleeing before your enemies? Or three days of pestilence?"

Isn’t it amazing what faith can accomplish? But of course, the four partners above have no faith, so they will never see God or His truth. And God left this little problem in His perfect Word to identify the unbelievers and ridicule them (I Cor 1:19-20; 3:18-20).
