Does Your Church Have a Piano?
The Old Testament had musical instruments (Ps 150:1-6). It also had blood sacrifices. But Jesus said God wanted new worship in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24).

The New Testament requires singing with understanding - not making noise on instruments (I Cor 14:15; Eph 5:19; Col 3:16). So why do churches have instruments? When did they bring them in? What did past church leaders say about this invention?
If you think playing a piano is close to singing, will cookies and milk work for the Lord's Supper? If you think God does not care, ask Moses (Num 20:7-12), Nadab and Abihu (Lev 10:1-2), or David (II Sam 6:1-10). Have noisy instruments brought spiritual revival and holiness or worldly compromise? |
